Kimberly-Clark Wins Corporate Citizenship Award

Washington, D.C., November 9, 2006 — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) announced that Kimberly-Clark Corporation (NYSE: KMB) was awarded the Corporate Citizenship Award in the category of International Community Service.

"Kimberly-Clark's global operations not only provide outstanding service to their many customers, but also serve as a helping hand to people in need all over the world," said BCLC Executive Director Stephen Jordan. "They lead by example, and we applaud them for it."

Kimberly-Clark is the largest single donor to UNICEF's U.S. fund for its HIV/AIDS initiative, with a pledge of $5.2 million. UNICEF has used the donation to provide 350,000 children orphaned or made vulnerable by AIDS in 24 countries with life-saving supplies and healthcare, education, and skills training. Kimberly-Clark's donation also supports programs that prevent violence and child exploitation, combat negative social stigmas and discrimination, and encourage HIV testing.

"We are honored that the U.S. Chamber has recognized Kimberly-Clark's partnership with UNICEF and the positive impact we have had on the lives of children made vulnerable from AIDS in communities around the world," said Thomas J. Falk, Kimberly-Clark Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Caring and community are words we hear a lot, but at Kimberly-Clark they are words that define us. Whether we're helping a mother care for her newborn, helping families with colds and flu, or supporting important social causes worldwide, we seek to improve the health, hygiene and well-being of people everywhere, every day."

A panel of corporate citizenship experts, including past award winners and BCLC's board of directors, selected Kimberly-Clark as the award winner. Other finalists in the International Community Service category were AIG, GlaxoSmithKline, Marathon Oil, Microsoft, and Western Union.

The Business Civic Leadership Center is a 501 (c) (3) affiliate of the U.S. Chamber and is dedicated to advancing the positive role of business in society. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
