SCOTT Car Care Honors Hero Richard Chapala as Winner of the 'Worth the Work. Pass it On.' Sweepstakes
Nov 26, 2013

ROSWELL, Ga., Nov. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SCOTT® Car Care, a division of Kimberly-Clark Professional, is proud to announce the winning hero of the "Worth the Work. Pass it On." Sweepstakes, Richard "Chip" Chapala, a vocational school security guard from Monaca, Pa.

Starting in June, SCOTT® Car Care asked fans to honor their personal hero in the "Worth the Work. Pass it On." Sweepstakes for the chance to win a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT with EcoBoost engine. Chapala, the winning hero, was nominated by his coworker, school nurse Carol Schmidt.

After learning about the sweepstakes Schmidt instantly nominated Chapala, coining him the "silent hero." Schmidt says, "Chip works with kids, and always encourages them to do their best, to keep trying. He values honesty and hard work, and works to instill these values in kids who often come from difficult home situations. He never gives up on anyone or anything, no matter how hopeless things may seem. He is a hero at work and in life."

In addition to winning the truck, both Schmidt and Chapala received an all-expense paid VIP trip to the November 2013 Ford EcoBoost 400 Sprint Cup race in Homestead-Miami, Fla. The winners also had the opportunity to meet Sprint Cup Champion and SCOTT® Car Care spokesperson Brad Keselowski and each received a year's supply of SCOTT® Car Care products.

Schmidt did not tell Chapala he was nominated until after he was selected as the winner. "That is just the kind of person Carol is," says Chapala. "She is very kind and considerate, and as the school's nurse, she is a hero in her own right. This was the first NASCAR race for both of us. I had the time of my life. The whole trip was so high energy from start to finish. I couldn't wait to get back to school to tell the kids all about it. I can't thank Carol enough for nominating me and SCOTT® Car Care for the F-150! This experience was awesome!"

"Guys like Chip are exactly why we wanted to do this sweepstakes. Our consumers are hard-working, dedicated individuals who often do not receive the recognition they deserve," says Mark Bushey, associate customer marketing manager for Kimberly-Clark Professional. "We are proud to honor Chip as our winning hero and plan to continue to 'pass on' our thanks to our end-users through programs like this."

The "Worth the Work. Pass it On." Sweepstakes was supported by Brad Keselwoski and his Checkered Flag Foundation (CFF). The CFF, led by Keselowski, strongly believes in recognizing our country's heroes. "It was a privilege to meet Chip and Carol at Homestead-Miami Speedway and to thank them for all they do for the kids in their school. They are both true heroes and I'm proud to join SCOTT® Car Care in congratulating them."
