Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Recognizes Kimberly-Clark With Vets Ready Initiative Award
Nov 11, 2021

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (center) recognized four 2021 Vets Ready Employer award recipients in a ceremony on Nov. 9, in Green Bay, Wis. Gold medal recipient Precision Iceblast Corp and silver medal recipients Kimberly-Clark, 4imprint, and Fox Cities Builders were recognized for going above and beyond to support veterans and their families. Joel Neujahr (6th from the right), senior global category manager – MRO and SALUTE Recruit & Retain lead, accepted the award on behalf of Kimberly-Clark.

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has recognized Kimberly-Clark as a silver level award winner of its 2021 Vets Ready Initiative. These awards are given each year as part of an initiative that highlights Wisconsin employers who go above and beyond to support veterans and their families.

“Wisconsin’s veterans bring critically important skills to the workforce and their contributions are helping our economy bounce back stronger than ever,” said Gov. Tony Evers in the official press release. “By leveraging these talents, Wisconsin’s award-winning Vets Ready employers are gaining a competitive advantage while supporting veterans and benefitting their communities.”

The initiative encourages employers to build a support system within their workplace, hire and retain more veterans, and connect to veterans in the community and their families. One of the ways Kimberly-Clark does this is through its SALUTE employee resource group (ERG), an organization that harnesses the unique experiences of veterans to help strengthen Kimberly-Clark’s vision, and improve the lives of veterans by recruiting veteran talent, providing benefit education, and doing good works for veterans in the community. Kimberly-Clark also provides benefits including pay differential for periods of mandatory/elective training or active duty and 80 hours of post-deployment leave for those returning from active duty.

For receiving this award, Kimberly-Clark will be promoted by DWD staff to veteran job seekers and community partners through WiscJobsforVets.com. The company will also be highlighted as a Vets Ready employer on JobCenterofWisconsin.com and recognized with a special icon on the site for visibility to all job seekers. A certificate to showcase the award was presented during a ceremony at the Brown County Jobs Center on Nov. 9.
